Volkswagen Sharan 2011

During the 80th International Motor Show in Geneva last month in the third generation Sharan, the company is the first MPV range of Walter de Silva (Group Chief Designer) and Klaus Bischoff designed (brand chief designer) solely on the basis of Volkswagen design DNA, the new matrix. This completely new generation of Volkswagen Sharan is equipped with sliding doors for the first time on the back and becomes the all-wheel drive (4Motion Sharan 2.0 TDI with 140 hp) available.

The new Sharan offers four engines sparingly. The Sharan four turbo gasoline direct injection (TSI) and turbo-diesel (TDI) engines to 21 percent more efficient! The two TSI engines, 110kW / 150hp and 147kW / 200hp supply, while the TDI develops 103 kW / 140hp and 125kW / 170hp. With capacities of up to 170hp engines with a start-stop system and energy recovery (restoration of the kinetic energy that is stored in the battery is stored).

With an average consumption of 5.5 liters per 100 km (51.4 mpg, 145g/km CO), the 140PS version of the Sharan 2.0 TDI – top speed 194 km / h (119 mph) – set a new benchmark for fuel efficiency in this segment of the market! The theoretical range is correspondingly impressive: 1273 km (805 miles) of its 70-liter tank. Both TDI with an SCR catalyst (SCR = Selective Catalytic Reduction), specifically nitrogen oxides (NOx) enabled.

For the first time, all Euro 5 engines are used in conjunction with nimble and efficient Direct-Shift Volkswagen dual clutch gearbox (DSG) is available – from automatic new era! In the case of the 200PS TSI DSG standard.

The new Sharan will be in three trim levels: Trend (basic version), Comfort (Mid-level version) and Highline (exclusive version). It will be sold in nine different colors. The default configuration is initially a five-seater. However, there is a “Six-Pack and a seat 7 seat pack. In addition to the three versions are special options customers individual requirements.  Orders for the new Sharan already set in late March, with the full launch early summer.
